Taylor and Her Furr Babies

If you felt that you didn't know enough about Taylor Swift, here's one more endearing quality about her. She is a cat lady! Yes, the talented superstar loves animals especially fur angels.

On the Tonight Show, she went on to name as many cat breeds as she could under 30 seconds effortlessly.

Of course, her devout fans know of her 3 furrr babies; Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button.  Here are some of the cutest candid moments of Taylor and her cats:
Meredith is her first child since 2011, she rules the roost with sassiness and is vocal about her independence:

She has even demonstrated her independence while in Taylor's arms:

Olivia Benson named after the detective (now sergeant as Taylor has said on an interview with Ellen) that Mariska Magdolna Hargitay from Law&Order:SVU Olivia Benson, came into Taylor's family in 2014, and has been in lovergirl bliss since. Olivia is a cat that is easy going, sweet, with the wit of her namesake.

In 2019, Swift's cats Meredith and Olivia co-starred in her music video for ME! alongside Brendon Urie. Referring to the Scottish folds as her “young daughters” in the video, Swift argues with Urie’s character, and he ultimately presents Swift with a kitten to make amends. That was baby Benjamin. Taylor Swift asked about the adorable blue-eyed ragdoll co-star and couldn’t help but take him home. So Benjamin Button transformed the duo into a trio. Benji is a cuddly little prince, who often lays in Taylor's arms knowing that he is -in fact, cute as a button.

Catful Endeavors

If you peep Taylor Swift's lyrics closely, you'll notice many playful metaphors about cats in her songs.

Midnights: Karma

“Karma is a cat purring in my lap ‘cause it loves me.”

On Nov 30, 2023, Mariska Hargitay had returned the favor of naming one of her cats "Karma," after Taylor named Olivia after Olivia Benson that she plays in L&O: SVU. She quipped that #KarmaisACat

The actress was also a part of TS: Bad Blood music video and after things settled down, Hargitay gifted Taylor a heart-shaped collar.

1989: Wonderland

In the Wonderland track for her 1989 Album, she references the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland.

“Didn’t you flash your green eyes at me? / Haven’t you heard what becomes of curious minds?”

“Didn’t you calm my fears with a Cheshire Cat smile?”

Reputation: Gorgeous

“You make me so happy it turns back to sad

"There’s nothing I hate more than what I can’t have

"Guess I’ll just stumble on home to my cats alone

"Unless you wanna come along.”

Catmunication Station

It's so endearing how Swift speaks to her cats and consults them about her life or work.

She even has them starring in commercials or music videos.

Taylor is a cat momma

If you know cat owners, you know that they take their role as pet owners seriously and refer to their pets as children. This is no different with Taylor Swift. It's clear that she takes care of her furr babies and knows them very well.

When Olivia jumped in the bathtub, Taylor dries her baby off. When Meredith used a book as a harp, she joked about how she had to hide the book to avoid a jumpscare at 4 AM. She knows them so well that she voiced their personalities playfully.

You can tell that her pets mean everything to her and she loves them dearly. When an opportunity came up to be one, she took that and ran with it. She went to cat school for the movie: Cats (2019) and the staff there had something to say about her dedication there:

Taylor played Bombalurina and sang "Macavity" in the movie:

In this red carpet interview, Taylor mentions how she's going home to her cats and with no men, as a response to the interviewer mentioning going home with men who wanted to take her home. Like a true cat momma, she's going home to her children.

Much like the way the Egyptians are rumored to have worshipped cats, so does Taylor. During an interview in 2019, with TIME Magazine about her greatest influencers she stated:

“I have cats. I’m obsessed with them. I love my cats so much that when a role came up in a movie called Cats, I just thought, like, I gotta do this. [Cats are] very dignified. They’re independent. They’re very capable of dealing with their own life.”

Did you know that Taylor Swift had cats and are you a cat parent too?
